Dial-Up Connections Configuring for windows 7 and Vista

How to create a dial-up connection in Windows Vista or Windows 7

1. If you're using a desktop computer,.ensure you're using a rear (at the back of the computer) USB port. If you are, try a different rear USB port

2. If you're using a laptop computer
(notebook, netbook or ultrabook)
try a different USB port

3. If you're using a laptop computer
move a different location,
prefferably one where you have
previously experienced good
reception

4. Change the network preference of your mobile broadband modem

Step 1
Open your Start menu and click on
'Control Panel'.

Step 2
Change the view to 'Small icons',
and click 'Network and Sharing
Center'.

Step 3
Click 'Set up a new connection or network'.

Step 4
Click 'Set up a dial-up
connection'.

If you are given the option, next
choose the ' your Mobile usb Modem E.g. (Nokia, Samsung, Huawei) '.

Step 5
Next enter the connection details
as follows: Phone number: * 99#
Username/Password: Leave this
field blank Connection Name: Choose something recognisable e.g.
'network dial-up connection'

Then click 'Connect'.

Step 6
Next, create a shortcut on your
desktop by clicking 'Change
Adapter Settings' within in the
Network and Sharing Center
window.

Step 7
Right-click on the dial-up connection you have just created
(refer to Step 5 for the exact name) and choose ' Create Shortcut ' from the drop-down menu.

Step 8
You should be presented with a
notification asking if you want to
put the shortcut on your desktop.
Click 'Yes'.

Step 9
Finally, you will be asked to choose
where this connection will be used
in most cases. Choose the option
that suits your situation best i.e.
'Home', 'Work' or 'Public'.
